The Importance of #BusinessDevelopment
By Rebecca Allam
Throughout February we have been highlighting the many reasons business development is crucial to business survival. We have had some great discussions at 'Peerworking' on the subject such as:
- How do I get my pricing right?
- Should I increase my rates?
- Am I getting the correct message across??
All of the above are examples of questions that people find themselves visiting more than once over the life of their business. This is because a business is constantly changing, as is the environment we live in so these are things we must constantly be addressing, and if we stop this is when it can become detrimental.
Business Development is about taking a step back and looking at how your business is currently running and then assessing new ways to develop your systems and processes and implementing strategies to build it bigger, better and stronger. A lot of small business owners get caught up with doing the doing in their companies as most are built from a passion for what they do or a passion for helping people. So quite often they don't see the opportunities they may have missed because they were in the thick of things.
At The Business Clinic, we encourage our practitioners to always have business development in the back of their minds and to ensure they make time each week to work on their strategy and goals. It may be looking at building some strategic relationships, upgrading their customer management system or just looking at more efficient ways to spend their time. 'Peerworking' allows them a couple of hours every other week to think about their business from outside the box and they find it invaluable.
We are happy to support you on your business journey to success!
